FAQ
Home FAQ
New to company formation? We've got it covered.
How long will it take to register a company in the UK?
It normally takes about 5 to 10 minutes to complete your company application on our website, and then between 3 and 6 working hours for your company registration to be processed, however, this may take longer - dependent on Companies House workload.
Can just one person form a limited company?
Yes, the company can be owned, managed and run by one person. The person would act as the sole director and shareholder of the company.
What details do I need to form a company?
To set up a limited company you simply need a company name, the business activity of the company, a registered office address in the UK, and the details of the company director(s), shareholder(s) and People with Significant Control (PSC). The company officer(s) and beneficial owners of the company, (ie. 25% or more shareholding), are required to provide proof of ID and address.
Do I have to be in the UK to form a company?
No. You can form a company as a non-UK resident from most locations in the world. The International package includes our Registered Office Service; this means that you can use our London address as your company’s Registered Office. Any Companies House, HMRC and business mail that we receive is scanned and emailed straight to you to avoid any delays.
When can I start trading with my new company?
You can start trading through your new limited company immediately after it is registered at Companies House.
How many shares do I need to issue?
A limited company must issue at least one share. If there is more than one shareholder, it requires to issue at least one share per shareholder. It is often recommended to issue more than the minimum number of shares to avoid the need to issue more in the future.
Do I need a business bank account?
There is no legal obligation for a limited company to open a business bank account; however, in practice, it is almost impossible to operate without one. A limited company is a separate legal entity from its owner(s), therefore you should keep your personal and business finances separate.
When will I receive my Incorporation documents?
As soon as your company application has been successfully validated at Companies House (Normally within 1-2 working day of submission). We will also send you hard copies via post within 2 working days (Excluding the Seed Package).
